There But For Fortune

I've been on a house cleaning kick lately.  Not my domicile, but my computer.  I've got thousands of images that I tucked away for that "someday" when I'll take them all out, dust them off and create the world's next great photo exhibit.

I've been ruthless, slashing and burning my way through them, after all, I have worked as a press photographer and know that, at best, only one image in ten is worth keeping, and that was in the film days.  With digital, probably one image in one hundred.

But, once in a while, I run across one that stops me in my tracks and makes me think.

  1. mmm...great shot...and i love that it is in black & white...it makes the detail pop....and makes one think of this mans story...

  2. I like pictures that make you wonder about the story behind it. Is he homeless? Something about it makes me think he is (the bag at his feet, the backpack on the other bench...). Or is he just tired? He looks tired. I'm wondering why the fruit of the ground is in color, as if to pull attention away from him. Is it?

Too many questions. Will you tell us the story behind this?

    1. Tired of being homeless and sleeping on a park bench. The apples are half eaten and for whatever reason, I left them red.

  3. Very moving picture. Definitely not one to get slashed and burned.
