Abortion: "Conservatives want LIVE babies so they can raise them to be DEAD soldiers."

The abortion argument is one that has troubled me for years. No doubt that at some point, an abortion is a horrible thing. But also, at some point an abortion is simply ridding oneself of an unwanted zygote. The question is, at what point? The definition of fetus: the young of an animal in the womb or egg, esp. in the later stages of development when the body structures are in the recognizable form of its kind, in humans after the end of the second month of gestation. Then, by definition, an abortion prior to the second month of gestation or so is not ridding oneself of a "recognizable form of its kind" but rather, ridding oneself of an unwanted pregnancy. I will concede the moral argument of no abortions past a certain length of time, but other than that, I believe the decision of whether or not to have an abortion is no business of the government, certainly no business of any "religious authority," but entirely the decision of the woman involved. I once confronted an outspoken pro-lifer with the statement; "I will respect your opinion when you 'personally' adopt an unwanted child. Otherwise, you are doing nothing more than bringing someone into this world who will suffer, and cause others to suffer, only to be executed or imprisoned as an adult." It shut them up, but only briefly. No one has expressed pro-choice logic better than George Carlin. I know this video is a little lengthy, but I urge you to watch it because first; it's very entertaining and thought provoking, and second; to help you hone your arguments, because these right-to-life assholes continue to screw up any logical progress we try to make in our society and they need to be silenced.
