Islam ain't all bad

With pretty good reason, a lot of people are ate up with Islamic wack-o's and tend to paint all Muslims in their image.  My argument with these folks has always been to just give them time, they will eventually come around.  Of course, there will always be nut cases, as there are in all religions, but that's another post.

This post is concerned with an image of Muslims seldom seen by the general public.  One that should be an eye opener.

There are few more hedonistic pursuits on this earth than Formula One racing.  It attracts the glitziest of the glitz, the richest of the rich, the gauchest of the gauche, yet on it's world-wide tour it passes through five Islamic nations... Bahrain, Turkey, Singapore, Malaysia and, new this year, Abu Dhabi.

Among its many assets, Formula One is famous for its Pit Babes, the beautiful girls who act as grid markers and who populate the garage in general.  The following are photos of Islamic pit babes.  You can draw your own cultural, religious, or moral conclusions.

  1. I believe there are 19 F1 races in all. We have been shorted 13 installation of the Grid Girls. If the uptight muslims have this to show, please, dear God, what do the heathen countries have to offer?

  2. I'll have to depend on my racing brother to help me out will all 19. I figured Australia and Brazil were enough of a tickler to spur further investigation by those so inclined.

  3. Whatevs guys.
The women who wear designer clothes underneath their burkas are the real heroes. The ones who "live it" everyday. These pit babes are not a true example of their culture, they're an example of distraction.

  4. Diane... I cannot deny they are, indeed, a distraction. Seriously, the fact they exist at all is testimony to the tolerance, and moderation, of the Islamic culture as a whole.

JJ... Children of the night, for sure.

  5. Mr. Charleston, you are right about the scantily clad girls in the Malaysian F1. But this is a kind of an exception, largely because the religious group doesn't go to this event and may be ignorant that this stuff happens.

However, Malaysia, pressured by Islamic groups, did cancel concerts by Avril Lavine, Beyonce and Rhianna, amongst others. Beyonce eventually did perform but only after she agreed to wear modest clothes.

  6. No wonder they drive so fast to the pit stop!

  7. LGS.. I'm sure you are correct. But I believe the reason the F1 behavior is tolerated is because of mankind's biggest sin... greed. F1 brings tons of money and international exposure to locals who want the world to see them as progressive. China spent billions on the Olympics and an F1 venue. India, which sponsors a car, is building a track as well.

Barbara... I guess that's why they now have speed limits on pit road!
