Easter 2012... Whew! I'm Pooped

Grandkids down from up north along with local grandkid.  Nothing but energy.  Gotta do something to keep them occupied that doesn't involve me running in circles chasing them as the Tickle Monster.  Ah hah!  In the morning paper... the Clay County Agricultural Fair and Extravaganza.  A beautiful day for a ride down through Green Cove Springs to the fairgrounds out in the country.

Our gang hits the midway.

First things first.  What's a carnival without corn-dogs?

She couldn't get any of the girls to take her up on it.  I wonder why?

Having fun on the Whirly Gig.  They were having so much fun that the operator let them ride twice.  Could be because there were two news photographers there and everyone else on the ride were sort of ho hum.

I have no clue.

What's an old fashioned county fair without belly dancers?  They were pretty good but you could tell, it would have been a lot better in private.

The dancers certainly had the girl's undivided attention.

The next act arrives at the stage.  Now, this is something you don't see everyday.
Capped off the day with the traditional Easter egg dying.

Easter day was a day of rest and sobriety for old grandpa.  Watched the Masters.  What a finish.  Two more days to go.  Trying to decide if it's going to be a day at the beach, the zoo, or wandering the streets of St. Augustine.  Where's the 5-hour energy when you need it?

  1. A day of rest and sobriety for old grandpa? Sounds like it is well deserved, especially with all the colour on display in those photos.

  2. The carnival looks like it was fun. If you go to the beach, you get to kick back after the initial setup. However, the streets of St. Augustine sounds more fun.

  3. Thanks for sharing the photos of your family's trip to the fair. Your grandkids are all girls?

    1. All girls Squirrel. Two daughters, four granddaughters. Like they say, it takes a real man to have girls cause it's so much harder to put the plumbing on the inside.

  4. What a lovely bunch of cuties you have there. Looks like they all had a blast at the fair, but I can't say that I've ever seen belly dancers at any of the fairs I've attended. Guess I haven't gone to the right ones.

    1. Yeah, it seemed pretty incongruous to me as well. Clay County fair with belly dancers? And sponsored by a Catholic health care provider no less. Go figure.
