Of Fast Cars and Blogger Buddies. It's been a busy two weeks.

Ran up to Columbus, Georgia a couple of weeks ago to visit an old friend there who is a gearhead and an Alfa Romero nut.  I don't mean that disparagingly, it's pretty easy to be an Alfa nut, the cars are so wonderful and, once hooked, you're a goner.  Anyhow, once a year the pretty little town of Norcross, GA hosts an Italian Day Cruise-In where people drive their Italian made cars to a downtown park and hang for the day.  My friend Mel's buddies were taking a couple of their cars up and we decided to tag along.

My favorite car at the show, this beautiful '67 Guiletta Spider.
Of course, no show would be complete without your garden variety of Ferraris.  There was a pretty nice collection there.  Lots of eye candy.  (Couldn't resist playing with this image a little.)

I knew that my old blogging buddy Susan Flett Swiderski (I Think Therefore I Yam) lived in the area and we arranged to meet.  Here she is with her husband Mike.  It was great to put a face with the blog and she and Mike turned out to be great people.  We'll hook up again someday, I just know it.

And then this past weekend it was down to south Florida to the Mirror Lake Classic in Lakeland to meet up with my buddy Punch for a show that's become an annual favorite.  Classic cars around the beautiful downtown lake and the streets above filled with a bring-what-you-drive cruise-in.

I believe I like the hot rods as much as the classics and I love to hear them fired-up.  There's nothing quite like the rumble of a camed-out, big-block V8.

And, like the week before, I knew that another blogger buddy lived in town and Susan gave me the contact information for us to hook up.

Prowling amongst the vintage motorcycles is the Pixel Peeper (Thoughts from my corner of the Couch).  Again, it was nice to put a face to someone you have corresponded with for so long.  And again, Betina and her husband, Dave, turned out to be great people and I have a suspicion that somehow all of us, Susan, Mike, Betina, Dave, Punch and myself, will all end up at this show together next year.  Why, it could become a veritable blogger nation gathering!

    1. Well, you're just "down home" I've got a bunch more photos of Columbus. Have you been there since they tore down the mill dam and created the white water course? Way cool.

    1. I love to see things like that. Sort of a change from years of music festivals, although, I'm still doing those as well.

  4. Now, now Jackie Sue. He couldn't have been all that bad if he loved Jags. Right?

  7. Great pictures. And it's always nice to see other bloggers as real 3-dimensional people and not just names that appear on your screen.
