They Were Wrong

It was the war to end all wars.
They couldn’t imagine that such carnage was possible.
Chivalry, gallantry and honor were dead.
Without that, what good war?
They thought it the last war ever fought.
They celebrated its end.  Declared a holiday, Armistice Day.  They were wrong.
So, they changed it to Memorial Day.

  2. war is intrinsic to humanity I think. this country especially has been at war for nearly every year of its existence.

THAT peace lasted just 22 years!

  5. This is really good. I walked around the cemetery today with my son to think about all the death from war and commemorate those who served. The world of war is only going to get worse, and that is saying a lot, as I don't know of any good war.
