Jaws... for real!

My nephew, a Master Chief in the Coast Guard, was fishing with some buddies just offshore of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina when a visitor showed up, a fish not common in these waters.  Worth a look.

I used to fish for sharks in the surf when younger and I can tell you, if you swim in the ocean, you swim with sharks. Fortunately, none of them see you as bait, except for this guy, who sees you as lunch.

  2. Sheesh - years ago, I used to float on my back on little swells just like that in Wrightsville Beach, where Buzz Kill's family has had a beach house since the 40's. Glad no sharks like that were around then. Makes you wonder if these big fellows are getting out of the Gulf . . .
    Love you, Mr. C

  3. Actually, the swells weren't just like that since I was only out as far as the sandbar - but still . . .

  6. No, my nephew is not Matt Garrett. Apparently Matt and Scott were on the same boat. There were four of them. I can only echo the words of the crew... That's a big fucking fish!

  7. Even a shark's gotta eat. Should we throw 'em Herman, Rick, Newt or Michele?

  9. WOW!!! And...um...OMG!...and some more stuff like that.

This is obviously the sort of experience that reduces one quickly to three and four letter reactions.

  10. Well let's see, a Newt for an appetizer, Herman and Rick for the main course and Michelle for desert? Sounds about right.

Ken... I can't imagine a story about a Great White that will warm my heart, but I'll check it out. Thanks.

    Nance... I'm with you.

  11. During surfing days I had a few sharks swim close to me while I was laying on my board but they were tiny things compared to that bad boy.

I love sharks and I hope one day to do one of those organized shark dives.
